So you don’t want to carry a big SLR around with you, well the magnificent 1982 Pentax PC35 compact is just the perfect camera to use for early 80s pics! The most beautiful compact with classic early 80s styling!
What do you use to take pics of new wave bands and hot early 80s supermodels. Why a 1982 nikon FM 2 of course!
Roland Juno 6 from 1982, the first Roland with a digitally controlled oscillator, beautiful wood panels, luv the design!! This and the 60 were used by Duran Duran, A Flock of Seagulls, John Foxx, huyman league, ultravox and other early 80s legends..
Just check out the studio of Tang Dream in ‘81!!!luv the early 80s tech, mostly analogue with a touch of digital creeping in!
I am really enjoying Tangerine Dream’s 1981 album Exit. Thankfully, there is no icky guitar like in their 70s albums. I can’t stand Tangerine Dream’s guitaring ( I am a huge guitar fan), I have liked their synth work, but once the guitar comes in I cringe at the substandard and unprofessional playing. This album is fab as as it has great early 80s synth sounds and sequencing! A must listen for any early 80s fan.
What better instrument is there than the 1980 Simmons SD5 analogue electronic drum kit. Currently enjoying Rizzitelli playing them live from the Jarre live from China 1981 album. This white kit is simply sensational! The iconic Hexagonal pads also suits the early 80s tech mantra. Need this kit in my bedroom!
So what sort of gear would you listen to with your early 80s analogue stuff! Well a McIntosh Power amp of course such as the MC2255; released in ‘81.
Preferably hook up your reels you have from your own studio with all your analogue electric goodness! Although Kraftwerk’s computer world, Jarre’s Les Chants or Flock Of Seagulls on vinyl would suffice..
